The 66th Florida Artists Group commonly referred to as FLAG, will have its Annual Exhibition and Symposium hosted at the Center for Visual Arts Bonita Springs. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place all through April till the 28th.
The attendance list will be packed with key industry players. 90 artists chosen from all the 10 areas in the state are set to showcase their works of art and compete for awards in various categories such as painting, mixed media, sculpture and graphics.
Majority of FLAG’s members are major award winning participants, experienced art teachers and highly talented artists based in Florida.
FLAG was founded in 1949 by a group of artists based all around Florida. This group was comprised of professors, curators in some of Florida’s famous museums, working artists and also artists brought together by institutions such as the Corcoran Gallery and the Smithsonian Museum.
The founders’ main vision was creating this group as a non-profit made up of talented and professional artists who have over the years gained international and national recognition through their exemplary work of art. The Florida Artists Group sole purpose is enhancing the achievement of top-notch standards of creative visual art throughout the state of Florida. It also strives to achieve this objective by enforcing education and a wide outreach.
The exhibition will be opened for viewing from 10 am to 4 pm at the Center for Visual Arts Bonita Springs, Monday to Saturday. The address for the venue is 26100 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs. Exemplary artists who shall emerge as winners will be awarded on April 2nd, at a banquet.
The Annual Exhibition and Symposium juror can either be a famous artist, a museum professional, curator or an educator. He or she is chosen from any state other than Florida. This year’s juror for instance will be a prominent Californian artist by the name of Katherine Chang Liu. She is well known for being a juror in more than 80 exhibitions all over the Unites states. Katherine is also an internationally renowned artist and instructor. Her magnificent art can be found all over the world in both private and public museums.
Monthly exhibitions at the Center for Visual Arts Bonita Springs is normally offered and promoted by the CFABS, which stands for Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs. It also offers a series of full performances at the Center for Performing Arts Bonita Springs. Some of the performances scheduled include “Improv Tonight” on April 2nd at 8pm, “Meet the Composers Multimedia series” on April 3rd from 3 pm and foreign and independent film series every Monday evenings.
